Masking Guidance

Beginning Wednesday, March 12, the University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics is moving from masking required to MASKING RECOMMENDED due to recent data showing a decrease in RSV and influenza cases in Chicago.

 Masking Recommended Guidelines

  • Masks are recommended for all staff with direct face-to-face contact with patients.
  • Masks are recommended for all patients and visitors.
  • Curtains should be drawn in shared patient rooms.
  • High-risk individuals should wear a mask at all times.
  • Staff should wear a mask while caring for immunocompromised patients.
  • Masks are required if the patient requests the provider wear one.

Seasonal Infection-Prevention Recommendations

  • Vaccinate (when appropriate) to decrease the risk of severe disease or death.
  • Wash your hands often.
  • Do not come to work if you are sick. Speak with your doctor if you are sick.

We appreciate your cooperation with our infection-prevention guidance and adherence to our ICARE values.

Thank you for ensuring a safe environment for our patients and promoting the well-being of everyone in our care.
