Pilar Carmona, MBA

With over 20 years of experience in community relations and health education, Pilar is a seasoned leader dedicated to advancing UI Health's mission through social responsibility and impactful community engagement. As Senior Director, she spearheads the community relations strategy and development of sustainable health education programs that address wellness, improve health resources and access. Pilar collaborates with key community partners to assess needs, advance health equity, and enhance community engagement through her community relations expertise. By focusing on health wellness, access to health resources, and clinical engagement, she fosters strong partnerships and supports impactful health and wellness initiatives. Throughout her career, Pilar has built a reputation as a strategic leader in both local and national contexts. She has successfully managed initiatives in corporate community relations, nonprofit sectors, and Spanish-language media. Additionally, Pilar has led the development and implementation of programs for pre-med students, student recruitment, and advising. Her background spans national and local roles in corporate community relations and development of medical school affiliations, reflecting her strong commitment to advancing health education and strengthening communities.

Juan Pablo Mosqueda, MA

Juan Pablo leads the community engagement and outreach through innovative health education programs. With over 18 years of experience, he excels in program management, community engagement, and identifying health disparities to create targeted interventions. He recruits and manages clinical staff, oversees strategic health events, and leads health education. He fosters partnerships and collaborations with local nonprofits, strengthening the impact of community health initiatives. He represents the health system at key events and community committees, focusing on increasing access and equity in healthcare. His background includes improving healthcare disparities for pre-med minorities through advising, recruitment, and student research. Passionate about community empowerment and health equity, Juan Pablo is dedicated to developing long lasting health education programs and implements data-driven solutions to address health challenges.

Luis E. Soto, BA

Luis plays a vital role in managing the implementation of community health education programs, events, and community relations strategy. He supports community outreach and engagement by bringing health education and wellness resources to underserved communities, identifies partner’s needs, manages events, tracks statistical data, supports and recruits clinical staff, builds community networks, coordinates activities, promotes health services for the hospital and clinics, and actively participates in community engagement with community partners. Luis has over 10 years’ experience in Financial Case Management, specializing in assessing patient eligibility for health insurance and public assistance programs. He has a proven track record of leading impactful initiatives, strategic partnership building, and advocacy. With over 20 years of experience, developing and implementing programs which empower communities through health education, knowledge, resources and health wellness.
