Treatments & Device Therapy
The Section of Cardiac Electrophysiology at UI Health offers the full spectrum of device therapy, including conventional pacemakers, biventricular pacemakers, and defibrillators (ICDs). A dedicated outpatient clinic staffed with experienced nurses and cardiac electrophysiologists oversees the care of the pacemaker and ICD patient.
Remote Device Clinic
In addition, we offer our patients a dedicated remote device clinic. With current devices embedding advanced technology, patients can wirelessly (remotely) transfer pacemaker or ICD data to our clinic without needing an in-clinic visit.
Lead Extraction Program
Some patients may require the removal of previously implanted pacemakers or ICD leads. Lead removal (extraction) is performed by a team of cardiac electrophysiologists and surgeons who possess special expertise and experience in such procedures.
