UI Health Honors Hispanic Heritage Month: Navigating Healthcare Access in the Hispanic Community
This September, UI Health proudly celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month by shining a spotlight on the experiences of Hispanic patients in our healthcare system. From navigating cultural practices and holistic approaches to overcoming barriers in access—especially for undocumented immigrants—this event aims to equip clinical staff with the tools to provide compassionate, culturally informed care.
Understanding, Connecting & Improving Care
Hispanic patients face unique challenges in accessing healthcare, shaped by cultural traditions, socio-political realities, and systemic barriers. This panel discussion, Navigating Healthcare Access in the Hispanic Community, will explore how these factors impact patient care and highlight what healthcare providers and community leaders are doing to improve access and outcomes.
Attendees will:
- Gain insight into the barriers many Hispanic patients experience and how they affect care delivery
