Medical Oncology
Most patients diagnosed with breast cancer will require some form of medication as part of their treatment.
The breast medical oncologists at the UI Health specialize in the treatment of breast cancer. They have thorough knowledge of the complications, side effects, and psychological needs that medical oncology patients experience.
They work closely with their colleagues across various hospital departments to ensure patients get the most individualized treatment possible, including chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biologically targeted therapies, and immune therapies such as Herceptin®. Most patients will see a breast medical oncologist at some point during their treatment journey, even if their treatment plan does not include chemotherapy.
